Some love stories take time and patience… and Mitchell and Paige’s is one of them.
After two years of long-distance dating — with Paige finishing her Bachelor of Education in Utah and Mitchell living in Halifax — these two have finally landed in the same place again. And when Mitchell proposed, it was the beginning of a brand new chapter.
What I loved most about photographing their engagement sessions was seeing how clearly they are best friends first. The kind of couple that laughs easily together, teases each other, and simply enjoys being side by side. For their engagement photos, we decided to capture two different sides of their story.
A PHOTO SESSION AT MCGOWAN PARK
McGowan Park was the perfect place to start. With its quiet pathways and beautiful trees, it gave Mitchell and Paige the chance to simply be themselves. There was lots of laughing, a few quiet moments, and the kind of comfortable connection that only comes when two people truly know each other.
Sometimes engagement sessions feel posed or serious, but not with these two. They spent most of the time exploring, talking, and enjoying the moment — which made the photos feel so natural and full of life.
And honestly, that’s when the best photographs happen.
A COZY STOP AT LEGENDS BOOK STORE!
But there was one more place that felt especially meaningful to them.
Mitchell and Paige both love to read, so they had the great idea of doing another engagement session at Legends Bookstore in Kamloops. The owner graciously allowed us to come in for a few photos, and it turned out to be such a fun and unique setting.
Between the shelves of books and the quiet corners of the shop, it felt like stepping into a story of their own. They laughed, flipped through books together, and reminisced about their favourites. They had the best time just bringing back memories. It was relaxed, cozy, and completely “them.”
And in many ways, it felt symbolic — because every great love story really is just the beginning of a new chapter.
The Best Kind of Love Story
What stood out the most during these sessions wasn’t just how sweet Mitchell and Paige are together… it was how much they genuinely enjoy each other. You can see it in the way they look at each other, the way they laugh, and the easy friendship between them.
And for this photographer (and very happy mom), it was pretty special to watch.
Their story has already taken them across provinces and countries… and now it’s bringing them back together to start a new life with each other!
And the best part? This is only the beginning.
