Steven & Brianna’s Heartfelt Summer Wedding
Some weddings just stick with you—in the best way. Steven Joy and Brianna Doig were one of those couples. When we visited together, I could tell their wedding was going to be full of meaning, love, and a whole lot of heart.
Steven and Brianna were married earlier in the month at the Langley LDS Temple. The following week, they gathered with their closest family and friends to have a private ceremony and reception at the White Lake Community Hall in Sorrento, BC. With incredible views of the lake, the venue felt like the perfect fit for this laid-back, joyful pair.
Right from the start, Steven and Brianna were so easy to work with—calm, helpful, and easy to talk to. We made the most of every moment, and their relaxed energy made the day flow beautifully. You could feel the genuine love between them—and the deep connection they share with the people around them.
Brianna had a beautifull gown and veil from Bliss Bridal in Kelowna. Her dress was elegant and stunning on her, and I thought it paired perfectly with the romantic lilac tones she had chosen as the wedding’s feature colour.
That soft purple hue wasn’t just a pretty choice—it held meaning close to her heart. Brianna shared with me that lilac reminds her of her beloved grandfather, who brought a bouquet of the lilac flowers to his wife on the day their first child was born. Some of her most treasured memories are of sitting on the patio with him, listening to his stories, with the scent of lilacs all around. I love when couples include these kinds of deeply personal touches—it makes the day feel so uniquely them.
Steven added his own meaningful detail, too. The couple’s elegant glasses were hand-etched by him, a nod to his love for handcrafted work. It was such a beautiful, quiet detail that said so much about his character and the thought they both put into their wedding day.
Everywhere you looked, there were tokens of family and love. A display of photographs honoured both sets of grandparents. A vintage camera sat ready for guests to snap moments from their own perspectives. The favours—sweet pots of local honey from Nicola Valley—were part of a cherished family tradition of gifting something special as a thank you to guests.
The ceremony itself was incredibly heartfelt, with vows written by Steven and Brianna that spoke so clearly of their love and future together. The officiant, Steven’s uncle, added a personal and warm touch that made it all the more special. And then, of course, there was the food (always a highlight!). Gumtree Catering delivered delicious, eye-catching dishes that made for a wonderful dinner . The desserts were equally memorable, with a stunning cake and sweet treats from Westgate Cafe and Bakery in Salmon Arm. Brianna and Steven also included a thoughtful gluten-free cake from Crumbs and Roses, beautifully decorated with the words Forever and Always—a phrase that holds special meaning for them.
The evening reception was full of love, laughter, dancing and celebrating. Music for the dance floor was put together by Steven’s cousin Victor De Feo, who also put together a touching slideshow that included many memories of the couple, their friends and family. Looking back on the day, I was honoured to have been a part of it. Steven and Brianna’s wedding wasn’t just beautiful—it was sincere. Thoughtful. Joyful. The kind of day that reminds you why you love what you do. Wishing them a lifetime of laughter, lilacs, and forever & always.
